I believe I may have mentioned (almost as many times as how shite No Country For Old Men is) that we are going to America for a few weeks in June.

I thought it might be worth going to an American sports 'event'

The criteria is:
We are in San Francisco, LA and San Diego mainly.
Must be able to get tickets for a reasonable price - don't mind booking a few months ahead if needs be
Must not go on too long. Any filum that lasts over 2.5 hours needs two sittings for me as I get bored easily. I've heard some of these American Footie games can go on for 4 hours+

Any suggestions?

Baseball can go on for generations as well. I'm sure US sports are designed to maximise the profits of the burger sellers.

You could always get down to the Home Depot Stadium and marvel at the quality of (proper) football stateside.

Good idea Dave.
Giz wants to see David Beckham... blahblah1.gif

...whilst you can tremble in awe at watching ex-Blues megastar Jovan Kirovski.

There's only baseball on during the month of June, Dazza, and obtaining tickets won't be a problem. I went to a game for the first time last April and it doesn't matter how long the game goes on for - in the case of American rounders it's about three and a bit hours - you're always being entertained in some form or other. I took the wife thinking she'd hate it but she waved to the hot dog vender with her big New York Mets' sponsored hand like she'd been at the Shea all her life.

Myself, I love watching most American sports. There's no hate-filled terraces or chants from the stands questioning the umpire's parentage, and you can sit amongst rival fans and have a great time listening to the banter.

One tip: If the game you want to go to appears to have sold out, go to the stadium and buy a ticket off a tout, they usually sell at the advertised prices anyway and sometimes cheaper, depending on demand.

Thanks Panj.
We are there for June and although I have no interest in any American sports, going there to watch footie is a bit like eating fish and chips in San Diego isn't it?!

I'll wager a King's ransom Daren, that if you like sport you'll love a day out at the baseball. Go into the stadium free of any preconceptions and just go with the Coors light sponsored flow..

Sounds like a plan Panjapants.

Cheers
