Dust to dust.

Life on Mars was a dish but the follow up was pish..

End of discussion, you can close this thread now..

We have just finished re-watching Life on Mars on DVD and it just reminded me of how poor Ashes to Ashes is in comparison. We will probably still watch it though as it is fun to listen to the soundtrack and Gene Hunt is always entertaining. Keeley Hawes is probably the most irritating peron on TV though and if she hasn't improved at all since the last series it is going to be a bit of a struggle.

Looking forward to it Sid, I just hope that the writers have actually put some effort into this series as opposed to just rushing a quick few half arsed storylines through for the first series to meet the demand of popularity after Life On Mars? The first series of Ashes To Ashes was very poor barring some of Gene Hunts moments.

Sid, did you watch those 3 new episodes of Red Dwarf on Dave the other week? Jesus they were woeful, the whole story was just a piss poor re-hashed remake of Back To Reality from Series V. My disappointment was unmeasurable.

I love the Dave +1 hour channel. It's called Dave ja vu..

Now that's scheduling humour at it's finest..

Brilliant ain't it? I was wondering what Sussy was up to these days?

I'm going to record Ashes To Ashes and watch it post Sheffield United thrashing Burnley. Then I'll be getting my pyjamas on and opening a bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Bla....Hey it's a bit like Twitter this ain't it?

Panja
It's a lot like Twitter but without the birdsong in the background. Or am I confusing that with the budgieregar site?

I often wonder what Sussy is doing, and whether he's noticed I've stopped the alimony payments? I suppose those French students are keeping his hands full?

I'm still here chaps although I've been watching old re-runs of Steptoe and Son instead of the new Red Dwarf episodes which I've got stored on Sky+ but, after hearing pretty poor reviews about it,they'll probably be jettisoned into the black hole portal accessed by the yellow delete button.Or something.

Aaanyway, the two latest French students have returned home safely and I'm now looking forward to the next batch who will be arriving next week.

What's French for 'You dirty old man?'

It's Mr Veelyams to you, mon ami.

It was better, definitely better but still not anywhere near approaching the brilliance of Life on Mars. At least there seems to be an attempt at a proper storyline for each episode and Hawes was slightly less irritating, although towards the end she did start the incredibly annoying pose of standing with her hands in the back of her jeans again. It's a watch though, and went down fairly well with the Marlborough yes1.gif

Thought it was modest start Ashes to Ashes the storyline was a bit eractic with too many loose ends, apparently this series ends 'in the balance with a cliffhanger'..mm...(there would be a few up for that job I bet..!) but it will all be explained in the next and one presumes the last series next year,

Now on to Red Dwarf.....maybe they just should have left it where it was....like Lobby I wasn't impressed....so much so that out come the old videos (yes..not DVDs) of previous series when it was top notch..!

It wasn't too bad last night, certainly an improvement on the opening episode, though the novelty of the time traveling cop has warn off now as the series have progressed and the references to it can be a bit tedious at times.

That is exactly what I said last night Sid. I enjoy it more just as an 80's cop series now really, I could do without the time-travel bits, far too much of it last night.

Last night's episode was somewhat testing and padded out a bit too long, lets hope there some improvement in the rest of the series !

Its nice listening to the 80s stuff via the red button now loike.

It's obviously been left open for another series, might be worth a final crack at it but the over emphasis on DI Drake as the time traveling cop was over played a bit too much at times.
