Full Version: One I and two CC's. The Twenty 20 World cup.

Started last Friday with Angleterre going embarrassingly down to the mighty Nederlands, a country that only has seven pitches suitable for first class cricket in the whole country! Ironic really seeing as the Dutch are famous for all their grass..

Anyway, we lost to them and then we beat Pakistan handsomely with Stuart Broad turning from villain to hero in two short days, which is what Twenty20 is all about really isn't it..

South Africa will be hard to beat methunkens, but it's who plays well on the day that decides who lifts the trophy, not class.

It might not surprise you to know I've had a couple of little investments Panj and one of those is SA to win outright.

I've also backed Luke Wright to be top England runscorer, though missed the 20/1 Tote were offering there as they only let me have 12's. - Would have got the money if we had lost last night!

AB De Villiers to be top tournament runscorer and Sharma to be top wicket taker.

We go away at the weekend though so I'll miss the climax, as usual...

It doesn't surprise me one bit, Dazza. In fact, here's me just after reading your post: lac.gif

Shock and awe not included..

If England learn from their mistakes over the Holland debacle all well and good, lets hope they can go on keep the momentum up for the next game.

Well played England

Taking out the holders India by the narrow margin of 3 runs. A good all round performance even though 153 didn't appear to be enough runs on the board, they bowled and fielded well enough to never really be in trouble.

We will need to maintain this form if we are to get past the West Indies tomorrow, the loser of this game goes home, the winners are through to the semi-final.

Good result, think India probably regret bowling 'too many wides' for a 20 over game, still worked out well for us in the end.

The highlight for me so far has been the Nasser and Beefy post match analysis. Nasser won't have anything bad said about England and Beefy just looks like he wants to deck him.

I like it.

As a spectacle I think the whole thing has been brilliant. 130 odd sixes already, packed out grounds, high scores, great fielding, I love it, I really do..

My recent conversion to Sky hd (special offer for the 1st 12 months only, terms and conditions apply) has meant that the cricket has been extra enjoyable due to the quality of the picture. The close-ups of the fair ladies in the auditorium has also been rather enjoyable too, yesterday's India game was just one big cricket babe fest.

All I need to do now is trade this black and white portable in for a decent tv.

Ooh so close. One of the reasons that I've never got too much into cricket is because the weather has too much of an influence. I mean, 80 off 9 overs in the rain, it's never going to happen is it? Oh dear.

As I said, I'm not much up on cricket, I wouldn't know a good player from a bad player unless you showed me his averages but that Stuart Broad, he looks a bit crap to me? He always seems to let us down when it comes to 'wor squeeky bum time'. Unlike Ryan Sidebottom, who's got 'the acceptable face of cricket cult heroism' written all over him. A Freddy without the pedalo, or a Boycott without the beaten and bruised female accomplice if you like. I can see him becoming a star this summer and I think he'll go right to the very top, he'll be making Wheatabix commercials before the winter sets in.

Who's going to win then? Jack Duckworth Lewis aside I'm backing South Africa's methodical batting technique to see them through with that Gibbs fella being made player of the tournament. If there is such an award.

Furious, that's what I am. Why is it that with a packed house willing to stay on and the floodlights turned up so bright you could see the action from the moon, that the ICC who whoever is in charge of these monumental fucked up decisions deem it necessary to say "Right, it's been raining for a while but we still have to finish by 9.45pm"?? It spoilt what should have been a brilliant game. Asking the England bowlers (Shredded wheat commercials not included) to bowl out the opposition in 54 balls or less is ridiculous and it must be scrapped immediately.

In America, if a night game has been delayed due to rain or it's a tie after nine innings, the teams carry on playing, weather permitting, until a result is reached, sometimes ending well after midnight. How many of last night's paying public would have been willing to stay on to see another 11 overs bowled? The answer on my card is all of them.

ICC = Wankers.

Oh, and the arguement that Colly knew the forecast before he chose to bat so therefore ergo thus should have bowled first is weaker than a watered down pint of Fosters on the rocks..

I am bitter, actually..

Pakistan v Sri lanka in the final then? The bookies must be overjoyed that first Orstralia got knocked out and then tournament favourites South Africa bottle it once more and lose it in the semi's.

I confess to hating Pakistan with a passion so I will be cheering on the Tigers from the teardropped island, especially the masterful, magical Muttiah Muralidaran (as he's now known on here..)

Talking of chuckers, that Mitchell Johnson should be brought to task on his bowling action. If he was English and touring down under the Aussie press would have a field day with the way he bowls. I think the British journalists owe it to their cricket team to attack this man to help us win the Ashes..

Not much of a final then..

Bastards..

Firstly, I would like to say congratulations for winning the womens world t20 title, well done, far and away the best team in the entire tournament.

Now then, Pakistan v Sri Lanka.

Not going SL's way at the moment is it? The consolation is their 3 cheating bowlers may yet get them out of trouble. (cue Panja's defensive post) post-22-1082660900.gif

Firstly, I would like to say how thrilled I am that the Sri Lankans got to a decent total after their disastrous start, they may make a game of it yet, and secondly, who's the third bowler, Pudley?

GOTCHA! this question establishes your agreementt that 2 of them chuck!
Panja

Murali is the only bowler to be tested thoroughly so therefore ergo thus, is the only proper bowler in the land..

And fourthly, it's a game out there. They have to get Shitehead Alfridi out now..

Good to watch but more luck involved than skill....pakistan win...the very pakistan we beat....
