Or Wimbledon to you and me. Starts on Monday, and the latest news is that Rafa Noodle is out with troublesome knees - I know how he feels, it takes me ages to get up to make a cup of tea these days - and this news must surely light up the collective eyes of Andrew Murray and Woger Federer, the latter will be trying for his fifteenth grand slam title which will surpass Pistol Pete Sampras' record while the former will be trying to get the monkey off his back and win his first. Because they're in the same half of the draw they will meet eventually, if they don't get knocked out earlier of course, in the semi finals..

Anyone watching? Anyone bothered?

MicK
I don't really like tennis but I do like to watch Wimbledon. Last year's final was one of the greatest sporting contests ever, aside from the monster trucks come dancing on ice semi-final on Setanta of course.

The monster trucks come dancing on ice is a tad more exciting than the early rounds of SW19. Watching some waif from Bosnia Herzigotvina ranked 256th in her own country getting killed 6-0 6-0 is not entertaining to watch..

My cousin got a wildcard this year, you always watch him get hammered 6-0 6-0 6-0... he is sure to swear at some point....

He gave it a fight, John. It was straight schweppes in the end but it was more than admirable at 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.

Murray looked a bit ordianry in his opening game. It took him four sets - you can't hurry him, I've tried - but he didn't look as comfortable as he should against that standard of opposition..

Not bad.... all part of his learning, I hope he keeps his head together and doesn't go off the rails... drinkofbeer.gif our family trait.....

(His mom, my Aunt is originally from Laburnum Avenue, Kingshurst BTW)

Anyone who comes from within Balti-spitting distance of Tanda's is alright in my book, John boy..

Murray has been condemning of the lack of British talent in the men's singles. Last night's post match interview was quite scathing. At least I think it was as I can't understand the Scottish twat..
davekermito
I've been watching the Scottish c@#t play many times over the last year. See unreplied posts for details

But now it's Wimbledon. So I won't.

It's like girls turning up to watch England play World Cup games in the pub with faces painted merrily in the St Georges flag shouting Beckham when Heskey touches the ball.

Lots of hype that's not there for the other Grand Slams or ATP 1000/500 games? No thanks.

Beckham got a suntan?

Murray (the bloke mentioned in countless threads by the resident Tennis scout on BN1) made short shrift (i've no idea what that means) of his opponent (can't think of his name, like brackets, though), winning in straight schweppes (which is what my wife will be pouring in her gin in Majorca tonight). He played better tonight than he did on Monday (or was it Tuesday?) but I stil think his current form is way short of troubling Fedora (not his real name but another chance to put some brackets in)..

i quite enjoyed that..he was very good i think he will win on friday...but can someone tell him his passport reads british passport and not scottish the miserable cnut!

Hats off too good to hurry Murray.

[by the way] . . . them is brackets . . . ( ) are parenthesis.

After watching the enthralling battle between Leyton Too-witt-too-hoo and the talented Andy that is Roddick, I have a feeling that Mr Murray is going to get Scottish royally fucked tomorrow..
Panja

That Federer's a bloody machine isn't he? I think it's totally irrelavent who wins the second semi as Woger is destined to lift another trophy..
jbn
Roddick made Wodger fight all the way, with the Clock-maker winning 16-14 in the 5th set, the winning game being the ONLY time in the whole 5 sets that Federererer broke Roddick's service.

A war of attrition and no mistook.
