Ring any bells?
Big centre-half leaves the pitch in floods of tears, sent off for a bad lunging challenge that puts an Arsenal player in hospital.
Tonight it's Stoke's England prospect Ryan Shawcross who has caused a serious injury to 19 year-old Welsh international midfielder Arron Ramsey.
Commentator couldn't wait to relate it to the Eduardo injury against Blues two years ago.

Well we have played it, replayed it, slow motioned it [dont you just love todays telly loike] and no way did he do that on purpose, Shawcross looked devastated, Wenger makes me laugh, its no coincidence that this keeps happening to us

No all the teams have a monthly get together, to see how and whos leg they can break next!

I can certainly understand that a manager who sees a promising young talent suffer such a devastating injury would be upset and distraught. However, Wenger's comments, even though they were a little more restrained than in similar circumstances at St Andrews two years ago, are a total disgrace and do not bear any relation to the facts.
It remains a mystery to me how a man who is clearly a very very good football manager and who can produce teams to play exquisite football, can be so lacking in common sense, wisdom and an understanding of what football is all about, in the wider sense. He also is obviously incapable of learning from his own mistakes.
Nevertheless, best wishes to Ramsay for a full recovery, although it is unlikely to be a speedy one.

Gutted, for both Ramsey and Shawcross. If Shawcross had been 0.1 seconds earlier he'd have won the ball. Absolutely in no way was that a deliberate malicious challenge. 2 commited players going for the ball, and Ramsay just got there before. No way was it a red card either, but in a way probably best for Shawcross to get away from the action. I feel sorry for the lad that on a day when he gets his first call up for the England squad, his mind will be on the injury.
Wenger has to understand that maybe Arsenals lightning quick one touch football, makes it hard for the opposition to tackle. Hence why they have been particularly unlucky with these bad injuries. As horrific as a leg break is, they don't usually result in the end of a career even how bad they look. It's usually joint injuries that do the real damage.
I think the media should have left Wenger alone, he's quite clearly emotional just after the game. He clearly doesn't like Pulis or the way his team go about their game. But I think he was very unfair, but should have declined an interview.

Fifty-fifty ball, and an unfortunate accident.
Wenger is a genius as a coach, but a fucking half-wit when it comes to these kind of things.

Thought it was clumsy tackle that was a bit high, don't think he could have no complaints about the red card and think it would be pointless to appeal against it..?

Sums up my feeling for Monsieur Wenger perfectly, John.
Listening to the Arsenal fans bringing up the Eduardo incident on Talk Sport and moaning that unskilled teams like Stoke and Blues have it for 'beautiful Arsenal' had me punching the radio in a way not seen since Scouting For Girls had continuous airplay.

Wenger has a selective memory: what about that hideous tackle by an Arsenal player (Gallas?) against Bolton recently? The tackle was far worse than Shawcross' but the consequences were less serious. That said Shawcross is a dirty bastard in a way the Tiny isn't (or wasn't, should I say?) Tough on Ramsay, though- the kid has serious talent and I hope he makes a full recovery.
